Flowers that will bloom all summer long 🌺

Grow these garden favorites now for late season blooms

Everybody loves a good flower that will bloom all summer long. Thier often low maintenance and only take a few minutes of your time every week popping of the old flowers to stay stong. That’s going to be the focus of today’s newsletter. 🌼

I’ve also had a few questions come through about which flowers can be grown from seed and still bloom before the cold fronts come in.

The short answer is - plenty of them! Marigolds for example are some that I will be starting again soon since I have an empty plot in front of my newly planted cherry tree. Zinnias are another great option.

Now is a great time to scoop up a few long blooming flowers from the garden center as their discount stickers start coming out. That cherry tree I just planted was half price! Sure, I wont get any fruit this year but at least it will be well established for next years crop.

Floral Fact 🌷

The “Endless Geranium Rozanne” is one of the longest-blooming perennials around. It can flower from late spring until the first frost, often providing continuous color for over six months!

Here are some quick growing tips:

  • Hardy from zone 5-9

  • 'Rozanne' does not divide as easily as other geraniums due to its robust root system. Spring or early fall is the best time for division.

  • Deadheading is not necessary as 'Rozanne' is a self-cleaning plant, meaning it continues to bloom without the removal of spent flowers.

  • Choose a location with full sun to partial shade. Although 'Rozanne' can tolerate partial shade, more sun typically leads to more blooms
